(August 12th 2025) eSail has helped in a real life man overboard (MOB) situation. Graham (pictured) from Kirkcudbright was on his sailing boat when a man was spotted in the water. Graham says they proceeded “Very much as per your man overboard simulation.” Unfortunately they could not lift the casualty onboard. So they put a line round him and awaited the lifeboat.
Graham says: “I find eSail MOB particularly useful for practicing ‘the drill’… and having done it so many times on eSail was much happier when the time came.
John Collins, Kirkcudbright Lifeboat Operations Manager said: ‘It was a successful rescue but shows the dangers of the water, even close to the land. The casualty was wearing a lifejacket which is always important.’
The eSail MOB add-on was developed with Keith Colwell (RYA Sea Survival Handbook) to help you practise your man overboard (MOB) drill. It includes tutorials, challenges and random triggering of MOB during normal sailing.
